Review: Sock Dreams and DIY Fitted Socks

Hello Lovelies!

Today I will be reviewing a cute online store called Sock Dreams! I found this site through Pastel Cutie ( I actually think it may have been her Instagram photo) and she was wearing THE cutest pink thigh high socks from Sock Dreams! I fell in love with them immediately.  I love wearing thigh high socks, but I find that in NZ the "thigh high" is more like knee high and they don't generally come in pink! Disappointing!

I searched through the site, and settled on the Ribbed M Stockings in the colour pink and natural.

The socks were $10USD each with $15USD for shipping. They took just under a week to arrive and were well packaged, well presented and undamaged ^^
According to the website, these socks should be 45 inches from toe to top, and in comparison to my Cotton on socks (grey) and Glassons socks (navy) they are huugeee!
For me, (and my chubby thighs ^^) the tops are really well designed because they do not have tight elasticity at the top of the socks. This means that I don't get that little thigh muffin top that the other tight socks give me.
These socks should fit US Women's shoe size 7-12, but since my feet are more like a 5 to 6 the foot of the socks is huge! Unfortunately they are unwearabley huge for me :c
See! Chubby feet. They look even worse when I try to wedge them into shoes hehe.
SO!
I decided to alter them myself ^^

It is very simple to alter too big socks.
Firstly I put on the socks inside out, pulled the excess material out and pinned around my feet. After sewing a straight stitch where the pins were, I put the socks on again to check the fit.
After deciding they were tight enough for my little feet I cut the excess material off and used a zig-zag stitch to secure the loose threads.
 Easy Peasy!

They look so much better once they have been altered! I really love the design of these socks, and I love to wear them scrunched up or cuffed.
Things I Love
  • Wide tops
  • Quick shiping
  • Huge colour range
  • Soft material (super comfy)

Things I Dislike
  • The huge feet! (although this is only because mine are small)

Go and have a look at Sock Dreams and see if there are any socks that take your fancy!

  1. I am going to pin this because I always run into this problem ordering socks. One size fits all is not my shoe size but oh how I cannot pass up cute socks now that I know I can alter them!

    Also, I loooove sock dreams!

  3. Ahh, thank you!!! I have huge feet, but when I got the same socks the feet are still so big on me that my feet slide around in these socks all day. This will help immensely! Thank you! :D

  4. OMG! I have been looking for OtK socks!!! It's been one of the most difficult things for me to find!!! Sadly, they seem to be out of the pink. :-( Looks like it has been a while since you made this post. I wonder if they restock the colors? And so awesome that you showed how to alter them! I have tiny feet too; so, I'm sure I'll have to follow your instructions to do the same.
