Manicure Monday

Hello Lovelies!

Today I wanted to share with you one of my favorite performance manicures!
I kind of dislike wearing black nail polish by itself because it just seems so dark, but I've found that adding the little glitter tips really brightens up the whole manicure! ^^  I usually wear black gowns when playing as part of a group, so black and silver match my gown and flute! Colour co-ordination!

The black polish is from Skinfood, and I actually have no idea what colour it really is since I can't read Korean. But it seems to look like a very dark green when compared to black. The chunky glitter polish is from XOX which I actually really dislike, but I'm too lazy/too poor to buy a better chunky glitter polish. The OPI Top Coat gives such a nice shiny finish, and helps the chunky glitter to stay on for a very long time.

Whats your favorite way to wear chunky glitter nail polish?

DIY: Face Mask for Dry Skin

Hello Lovelies!
Sorry for the post absence! I've been working full time over the summer holidays, and because of the intense air-conditioning in the store, my skin has been super dry and itchy, which is so weird for me because I normally have pretty oily skin. I scratched at my face with my long nails a lot, and my skin consequently turned into this blotchy, flaky, pimply mess. Since a normal day of work for me consists of a 9hour shift, 5 days a week this was pretty awful. I work in retail (although I am not allowed to tell you where) and I feel like my appearance matters a great deal towards my customer service. I'm not saying that because I don't wear makeup people won't buy things from me, but rather, I feel so un-confident that I don't feel comfortable selling things and being my usual self around people because I feel like they are judging me.

It started with itchyness around my eyes, which developed into puffy, flaky, itchy red skin. I was waking up and barely being able to open my eyes because they were so swollen and tight. When I opened my mouth to yawn the skin around my eyes would pull downwards. I quit wearing makeup, and opted for heavy moisturizer instead, but this didn't really get rid of the problem.
No I'm not squinting, my eyes are just  so puffy they won't open properly.

I finally resorted in going to the Doctors to be prescribed something, anything to get rid of the awful itching. By this time the dryness had spread to my cheeks, around my nose and mouth. I was first prescribed Hydrocortisone Cream.

Hydrocortisone is a mild topical steroid used for inflammatory skin conditions such as eczema and dermatitis. Topical steroids are used in addition to moisturizers when patches of eczema or dermatitis flare up. The cream relieves the symptoms of a flare-up by reducing inflammation, itching and redness, However, Hydrocortisone Cream thins out the skin and If used for long periods your skin may develop permanent striae (like stretch marks), bruising, discoloration, or thin spidery blood vessels. It must be scripted to you by your doctor and must only be used in very small amounts, as prescribed.

For me, the Hydrocortisone Cream worked really well for stopping the itching, but left my skin feeling dry and tight.

Thankfully I found an amazing DIY face mask to soothe my skin! ^^
I found this mask on Bubzbeauty, and altered it slightly. ^^  The mask made my skin feel so clean, without the use of chemical cleansers.

To make it, simply mix together;

1 teaspoon of honey
1 teaspoon of oats
1 Tablespoon of yoghurt
You can vary the amount of ingredients depending on what your skin is like, but this is my recipe (:
Cuutee!

Oats are a well known natural exfoliant and are amazing for people who have acne and/or oily skin. Its soothing and exfoliating properties remove dead skin cells, soak up excess oil and relieve the discomfort associated with acne.

Yoghurt brightens the skin, reduces redness, fades scars, tightens pores, treats blemishes, hydrates, treats irritated skin and is anti-ageing.

Honey is very moisturizing, improves blood circulation, promotes new tissue growth, exfoliates, anti-ageing and is a mild antiseptic.

Apply to your face using a foundation brush and leave on for 25 minutes, or till hardened. Wash off with warm water afterwards. Enjoy your beautifully softened skin (:

One week and 7 Yoghurt masks later;
Wearing one of my favorite Revlon Lip Butters, Strawberry Shortcake, on my lips (:
Let me know if you guys tried out this face mask!
