Review: NYX Stay Matte But Not Flat Liquid Foundation; Ivory

Hello Princesses!
Today I'm going to be talking about the NYX Stay Matte But Not Flat Liquid Foundation in Ivory! I picked this foundation out through the Findation site and it's turned out to actually be a very pale, yellow foundation - FINALLY!
"Stay Matte But Not Flat Liquid Foundation provides full coverage with a mineral enriched matte finish. The oil-free and water-based formula is perfect whether you are in the studio or out and about all day!

Ivory - Porcelain skin with yellow undertones

Water / Aqua / Eau, Cyclopentasiloxane, Cyclohexasiloxane, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Beeswax / Cera Alba / Cire d’Abeille, Disteardimonium Hectorite Propylene Carbonate, Polyglyceryl-4 Isostearate, Cetyl PEG/PPG-10/1 Dimethicone, Hexyl Laurate, Glyceryl Laurate, Stearyl Dimethicone, Polyglyceryl-4 Oleate, Phenoxyethanol,Methylparaben, Tocopheryl Acetate, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Butylparaben, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben. MAY CONTAIN / PEUT CONTENIR (+/-): Titanium Dioxide ( CI 77891 ), Iron Oxides ( CI 77491, 77492, 77499 )"(1)
This product has pretty average packaging, it's functional but not that pretty. The squeezy tube often leaks when stored upright or on it's side, and the cap does get quite dirty which is a little frustrating.
But oh my goodness, look at that colour! It's super pale and very yellow toned, just how I like my foundations. It's quite thin in texture and from the swatches it looks like it has a fair amount of coverage. It does oxidise on my arm slightly, very much like the NARS Sheer Glow in Siberia.
I find this foundation super easy to apply, though since it is a matte formula it can make my skin appear a little dry and cakey if I haven't used enough moisturiser. I can apply this foundation with brushes, sponges or fingers, though sponges are of course my preferred method. I find that using brushes or fingers keeps the coverage on the full side whereas a sponge does sheer it out slightly, but at the moment I don't have too much to cover so that is fine!
For me, this foundation provides medium, buildable coverage which is my preference. It doesn't accentuate my large pores, but it doesn't cover them either (nor does it claim to) and evens out my skintone beautifully.
This is what the shade looks like in warm tone light (yes, I'm buying a new camera today, YAY!) and it matches me perfectly. If you want to try out NARS Siberia but don't want to invest money on it in case it is the wrong colour, then I highly recommend trying this foundation out because it is a perfect colour match!
I find the lasting power is really good for my slightly oily skin, it does keep my skin looking matte. I do remember that it does get slightly oily when I have quite oily skin, but at the moment for me it is working great.
After 6 hours it still looks pretty acceptable!
What I Love
- Super inexpensive at $7.50USD
- Great colour for pale, yellow toned Princesses
- Medium, buildable coverage
- Easy to apply with brushes, fingers and sponges
- Great lasting power for slightly oily skin
- Keeps my skin matte all day

What I Don't Love
- Annoying packaging
- Can look a little cakey
- Not really full coverage
- Might not be oil controlling enough for very oily skin

Final Thoughts
For $7.50USD this is a really good buy for any yellow toned Porcelain Princesses! I really like the formula, coverage and finish of this foundation, it's pretty perfect for my skin at the moment. I wish that the packaging was a little easier to use, but for me that sacrifice is worth it because it means that the price is lower which is always nice for those on a budget.

I would definitely recommend the NYX Stay Matte But Not Flat Liquid Foundation for any Princesses looking for an inexpensive, medium coverage, matte finish foundation, and the shade Ivory for any Porcelain Princesses that are looking for a super pale, yellow toned foundation!

  1. I actually find this doesn't suit those with yellow undertones at all, like me. I'm an NC25 so pretty fair, but I have a very heavy yellow undertone on my neck and this just made me look like a ghost when I put it on. It clashed horribly with my neck too.

    1. I'm not sure how you think this is not yellow, but since this suits my NC10 skintone, I'm not surprised it made you look like a ghost if you have NC25 skintone. Even if it is the right undertone, trying a foundation that is at least three shades too light is obviously going to look bad? Did you try any of the darker shades? ^ ^

  2. I just found your blog via a Google search. This NYX shade suits me too and I was glad to find out that Siberia would be a match as well. Thank you so much for this post.
