Review: Maybelline Fit Me Dewy & Smooth Foundation VS Fit Me Matte & Poreless Foundation 110 Porecelain

Hello Princesses!
Today I'm going to be reviewing and comparing the Maybelline Fit Me Foundations in Dewy & Smooth and Matte & Poreless! I have both formulas in the shade 110 Porcelain and these are fantastic fair shades at great drugstore prices, though if you are in New Zealand you will have to import these shades as NZ doesn't stock them. BOO!
Fit Me (Dewy & Smooth) Foundation
"Flawless. Fresh, breathing, natural skin. Beyond matching: Fresh, breathing, natural skin. SPF 18.

Why You'll Love It
It's makeup that fits you. No oils, no waxes, no nonsense, Natural coverage that leaves skin the way it was meant to be... Fresh, breathing, flawless. Exclusive translucent base and lightweight pigments allow skin's natural highs and lows to show through. Seamless blending for light to medium coverage, Non-comedogenic, dermatologist tested.
SPF 18"(1)
This is the original Fit Me foundation! It initially wasn't called Dewy & Smooth, but now apparently it is, so let just roll with it. It's a gorgeous pale colour, but this shade is a little too neutral for my skin, it does look a little pink toned on my face, but it is manageable for me. This foundation does oxidise a fair bit on my arm, but I don't notice it at all on my face.
This foundation is really easy to apply, brushes, sponges or fingers all work perfectly well for this product and leave a lovely streak free finish. This is a very natural looking foundation, but that also means that it doesn't have that much coverage and doesn't do much for my pores and scarring.
Matte & Poreless Foundation
"Fit Me! Matte + Poreless from Maybelline New York goes beyond skin tone matching to fit the unique texture issues of normal to oily skin for the ultimate natural skin fit. While some foundations can exaggerate pores and oily skin, only our pore‑minimising foundation contains our genius blurring micro-powders that erase pores and absorb oil for a naturally matte and poreless‑looking finish.

Why You'll Love It
Blotting micro powders absorbs oil for a matte finish.
Lightweight blur technology erases pores for an airbrushed look.

This foundation starts off as the perfect, warm toned colour for my skin, but does oxidise slightly on my arm. I haven't noticed it oxidising on my face, it just seems to be that the more I rub and blend the darker it gets.
I found this foundation also really easy to apply with fingers, sponges or brushes. It leaves me with a streak-free and non spotty finish and doesn't dry down too quickly which makes it easier to re blend if needed. I found that it helped smooth out pores a little, though I don't think it's revolutionary technology helping it. It's a great shade for my skin and I found that it helped control oil slightly, though not to the extent that it claims.
Dewy & Smooth VS Matte and Poreless
Like I said previously, my Foundation doesn't say Dewy & Smooth because it's the original release so I didn't label the photos as such, but here is a direct comparison between the shades!
The Dewy & Smooth Foundation is noticeably pinker than the Matte & Poreless Foundation, but the Matte & Poreless Foundation oxidises slightly more than the Dewy & Smooth! I don't notice this oxidisation on my face though.
I can't really tell the difference between each side in any of these photos or while in real life, they pretty much look like the same foundation. One of the major differences I noticed is that the dry skin on my eyelids was flakier on the Dewy & Smooth side in comparison to the Matte & Poreless side which really surprised me!
I feel like the Matte & Poreless Foundation smoothed my pores just a little more than the Dewy & Smooth Foundation, but they had pretty much the same oil control, which was average. I feel so repetitive, but since I'm on acne medication right now my skin doesn't produce very much oil (and won't until March 2016 YAY) so I was surprised to see that this foundation looked pretty glowy on both sides. It didn't look too oily or sweaty, only glowy which isn't too bad. I do remember the Dewy & Smooth formula making my skin look pretty melty after a couple of hours, though I will have to update this next year!

Fit Me Dewy & Smooth

What I Love
- Doesn't oxidise as much
- Great pale, neutral colour
- Easy to apply

What I Don't Love
- Ever so slightly too pink
- Not great on dry flaky skin
- Not really dewy or smooth
- Not oil controlling
- Doesn't help my large pores

Fit Me Matte & Poreless

What I Love
- Easy to apply
- Not streaky or spotty
- Great colour, neutral to warm toned
- Smooths pores a little (not fantastic though)

What I Don't Love
- Oxidises slightly on arm swatches, though not on my face
- Not really oil controlling

Final Thoughts
I found it so funny to wear both of these foundations at the same time because in reality, the difference is really quite minimal. I believe that the Matte & Poreless is the best for my skin because it is a little warmer toned and a little better for oil control. Both of these foundations are great shades for Pale Princesses and at great drugstore prices.
I would recommend the Dewy & Smooth Foundation for Princesses that are quite pale and neutral toned and the Matte & Poreless for Princesses that are quite pale and warm toned, because that's probably the biggest difference between the two formulas.

Review - Maybelline Fit Me Shine Free Foundation; 110

Hello Princesses!

Today I'm going to be talking about the Maybelline Fit Me Shine Free Foundation in shade 110! This is the lightest shade that Maybelline produced in their Fit Me range, and is actually quite pale and yellow toned, which is great for me of course! ^.^
This foundation comes in a short but chubby roll up tube, which is the perfect handbag size for touch ups. The key part of this foundation is the "Anti shine core" which is supposed to keep you shine free. I have moderately oily skin, so I was pretty excited when this popped up! This product was released in 2014 and I've had my tube for a wee while, but haven't gotten around to reviewing it yet.
The shade is quite pale and yellow toned, which matches my skin tone really well! This product is included in my super pale product swatches so you can click here to see how it compares to other shades of super pale products!
This product is really easy to apply, especially if you're in a rush! I simply run the stick over my skin, and focus on where I would like the most coverage to be. If you want higher coverage I would suggest using a brush to blend the product into your skin, if you want lighter coverage I would suggest using a damp sponge instead. I do have acne, so I feel like rubbing this little stick all over my acne is super gross, so i use a clean finger or brush to apply this stick to areas with acne to avoid cross contamination. Ick.
I found that this product had very light coverage. I could see all of my freckles and acne scars even though I used a domed kabuki brush to blend it in. You could build up the coverage, but it starts to look a little cakey.
This product claims that the "Lightweight powders in the anti-shine core instantly dissolves excess oil". I would like to disagree with that claim, because I find that this product actually has less oil control than my regular foundations. I can wear it for about 3 hours with no problems, but once I get past the 3 hour mark it's shine city.
Flattering.

What I Love
- Inexpensive
- Quite a good colour (a touch too dark)
- Easy and fast to apply

What I Don't Love
- I can't wear it for more than 3 hours without looking sweaty
- Unhygienic for people with acne
- I don't really think the anti-shine core does anything
Final Thoughts
I really didn't like this product. It was incredibly hyped up when it was first released, as the perfect contour and highlight stick (which I agree would be quite good if I could find a highlighter shade) but it fell really flat for me because I just can't wear it for more than three hours. I do find a lot of products that won't last more than three hours on my skin and it's really pointless to hold on to them all, so in this case, this product will go to a more loving home!

Have you tried this foundation? Did the "Anti-shine core" work for you?

Manicure Monday: Midnight Sparkles

Hello Princesses!

Today I have a really lovely manicure with a deep midnight blue jelly polish - Color Club's Blue-topia and and a beautiful silver glitter polish - Maybellines Sequins! You can see that my names are getting less and less inventive.
I love this manicure, but Blue-Topia is really difficult to get off your fingers without staining everything blue, and I mean EVERYTHING. I stained my nice white top, tabletop and ALL of my fingers blue taking that polish off, but I'm so in love with the colour and jelly finish!

Do you Princesses have a less annoying dupe for Color Club Blue-Topia?

Review: Maybelline HyperCurl Volume Express Mascara

Hello Princesses!

Today I'm going to be talking about my second favorite mascara ever (after the Eye of Horus Mascara!) - Maybellines Hyper Curl Volume Express Mascara - Hello Kitty Edition!

I bought this mascara when I was in Taipei at the start of 2013 and didn't open it till August last year so I could use up all of my other mascaras. I hate having more than two mascaras open at the same time because they tend to dry up too fast which makes me sad, but I couldn't resist opening this up when I found it again, the Hello Kitty print is just too gorgeous!
This formula is waterproof (a must have for my oily lids!) and focuses on curling the lashes. The wand is slightly curved which is super hard to photograph apparently, but does a fantastic job of curling my lashes!

I don't find this mascara particularly lengthening or volumizing, but it does give my lashes a feathery curly look that stays all day and doesn't smudge, clump or flake.
This mascara looks really natural, like my eyelashes but more defined. It definitely doesn't give you the false lash look that most people would be after.

What I Love
- Waterproof and Smudgeproof
- Easy to apply
- Gives a feathery curly natural lash look
- Doesn't flake or clump

What I Don't Love
- Not lengthening or volumizing
- Doesn't give you a false lash look
Final Thoughts
I really really love this mascara and was really upset when it was finished! It gave me a really lovely feathery, curly, natural lash look that didn't look fake or clumpy. I can see how this may be a negative aspect for a lot of people, but for me it is a positive since I do a lot of natural makeup! If I can repurchase the regular version in New Zealand drug stores I would be so happy!

What do you princesses make of this mascara? Do you prefer natural looking lashes or false looking lashes?
