Review: Benefit POREfessional

Hello Princesses!

Today I'm going to be talking about Benefit's POREfessional! I purchased this ages ago and have been using it super sparingly since it's a pretty pricey primer!

"Quickly minimize the appearance of pores & fine lines for smoother-than-smooth skin! Apply this silky, lightweight balm alone, under or over makeup. The translucent formula contains a vitamin E derivative known to protect skin from free radicals.- Oil-free
- Complements all skintones
- Helps makeup stay put

HOW TO APPLY
Start the day POREfect & primed for anything! Apply a thin layer of this PRO balm to clean, lightly moisturized skin. Pat lightly from the center of the face outward with fingertips. Wink at your beautiful self in the mirror, then apply makeup as usual.

Reapply whenever pores come out of hiding. Pat delicately on the T-zone and blend over makeup. Just a dab’ll do ya!

CYCLOPENTASILOXANE, DIMETHICONE, DIMETHICONE/VINYL DIMETHICONE CROSSPOLYMER, ISONONYL ISONONANOATE, SILICA, DIMETHICONE CROSSPOLYMER, ISODODECANE, PHENOXYETHANOL, POLYMETHYL METHACRYLATE, TITANIUM DIOXIDE (CI 77891), CYCLOHEXASILOXANE, TOCOPHERYL ACETATE, FRAGRANCE (PARFUM), MICA, IRON OXIDES (CI 77492), LIMONENE, IRON OXIDES (CI 77491), IRON OXIDES (CI 77499), TRIETHOXYCAPRYLYLSILANE, BHT. N° 04932/N"(1)
This comes packaged in cute, vintage style packaging that's not quite to my tastes, but still cute! It has a screw lid and a squeezy tube that is very easy to use, store and travel with.
The primer is a light fleshy colour (ew, fleshy is a weird descriptive word) and blends into the skin easily. I don't use more than a teeny pea size because if I use too much it won't blend into the skin, but will sit on top of it and cause my make up to melt off which is not a pretty sight.

I find that this primer does blur pores, just like it blurs the wrinkles on the top of my hand! I have applied the primer to the photo right side of the above photo.
This is a silicone based primer, so works best with silicone based bases. This works awfully with NARS Sheer Glow which is a water based primer, so I advise not trying that combination. Like mixes well with like, not opposites for primers and bases.
I find that this primer mattifies my skin and hides my pores quite well. I don't think it helps with the longevity of the make up for me, or stops the oil production from my skin at all, but if I wanted that I would choose a specific oil controlling primer, rather than a pore blurring primer. I can always wear two primers as well if I want oil control as well as pore blurring.
What I Love
- Mattifies skin
- Blurs pores very well
- Cute, functional packaging

What I Don't Love
- Pretty expensive at $57NZD
- Only really works with silicone based bases
Final Thoughts
Honestly, if this didn't work so well to blur my pores I probably wouldn't repurchase it, but it is the best pore blurring primer that I have ever tried so far, which is why it is such a cult favourite! I feel like this doesn't make my make up stay put any longer than any other primer, or if I don't prime at all. This product doesn't claim to control oil, though the majority of reviews claim that it does for them, but for me personally, I don't notice any difference in oil production or breakdown of makeup from oil. It's a good product, but it's on the pricey side for me.

I would recommend this primer for any Princesses looking for a primer to blur pores and mattify the skin, but I would definitely recommend grabbing the mini size first since it is a little pricey!

Where To Buy:

  1. Have you tried Too Faced's Primed and Poreless primer? I have used both the POREfessional and Primed and Poreless and I found that Too Faced's product does the same thing without making makeup slide off. You can layer it up more than you can with the POREfessional, and it doesn't ball up like Benefit's product can. And it's a bit cheaper if you can get the smaller size!

  2. You should also try the Boots Wrinkle Filler and Primer. It acts exactly like the Benefit for me but gives you more product for half the price of the Benefit.
