Review - Etude House Goodbye Pore Ever Pore Primer Stick

Hello Princesses!

Today I'm going to be talking about the Etude House Goodbye Pore Ever Pore Primer Stick! I purchased this little primer stick from Roseroseshop this time last year for $6.40 and kind of forgot about it throughout the year! This primer is designed to subdue sebum and improve makeup coverage, so lets see how it does!
Of course because this product is an Etude House product it obviously has super cute packaging! In this case the primer has pastel blue packaging with yellow polka dots. The primer itself is housed inside a very sturdy tube like a long thin lipstick which would be great for traveling since the lid clicks on very securely. This product also comes in a liquid serum form too which I haven't tried.
The primer itself has a thick silicone-y texture. I find it a little bit unhygienic to rub a stick all over my face (especially since I do get breakouts and I feel like it harbors bacteria) but this is just a personal opinion.
I like to test filler primers between my thumb and forefinger because there is a bunch of convenient little wrinkles to fill there! I honestly can't see too much difference between the un primed and primed hand swatch (generally I can see a difference!).
(Yes I know I have terrible sebaceous filaments. They're not blackheads. Shh)

The primer seems to fill my pores slightly and make my skin look soft and mattified, but it doesn't quite fill my pores fully like Benefit's Porefessional does. This primer didn't help with my oil control whatsoever either, or improve my makeup coverage. At the end of the day I couldn't really tell the difference between the un primed and primed side.
 What I Love
- Cute and sturdy packaging
- Inexpensive ($6.40USD)
- Fills and smooths smaller pores

What I Don't Love
- Doesn't fill larger pores
- Doesn't help with oil control
- Doesn't improve makeup coverage
- I find the stick a little unhygienic

Final Thoughts
This little primer is super cute, portable and works well for filling smaller pores and imperfections. However, for me this primer doesn't work too well for my larger pores and oily skin. I didn't feel like it helped my skin stay matte or improved my makeup coverage in comparison to my favourite primer - Benefit's Porefessional (which yes, is substantially more expensive, but substantially better too), so I think I will stick to Porefessional for now! ^.^

Have you tried this product before? Did it work well for your skin?

  1. nice thought that it can cover up some pores...too bad it doesn't cover the larger ones.

    1. Pore filling seems to be a difficult job for most products, but this falls exceptionally short in the terms of larger pore filling which is quite sad because it's so cute! :C

  2. I was just wondering how long it takes you to apply this? I feel like a primer in stick form kind of impractical haha.

    1. If I rub the stick on my pores and blend it out with my fingers it takes about 10 seconds? It's not too bad, but not the most hygienic product!

  3. I think it's a little unhygienic too as a stick! Have you tried the L'Oreal Skin Perfection Magic Touch Instant Blur (LOL what a long name!)? I've heard that it's comparable to Benefit Porefessional. I really like it for priming my nose area - it mattifies and makes definitely makes my pores look less huge!

    1. I always have a play with the tester at Farmers, but could never bring myself to buy it! Perhaps I'll have to compare it to my favourite! ;)

  4. Hello Becca! Thank you for your helpful review. I'll try to leave comments in your most recent post now heheh. This and the other version of the product had called my attention, but I think it is better to seek other alternatives. By the way, I also find it somewhat unhygienic.Hope you are having a nice day!
