Fail or Holy Grail Review: Mizon Multi Function Formula Snail Recovery Gel Cream

Hello Princesses!
Today I'm going to be talking about the Mizon Multi Function Formula Snail Recovery Gel Cream! This wee gem is such a Holy Grail product for so many people that I decided to get amongst it's snail-y goodness and give it a try. So how did it end up as a Fail Product?

"Mizon Multi Function Formula Snail Recovery Gel Cream is a lightweight gel type cream that reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Its gel like consistency allows it to penetrate deeper than traditional creams and leaves a light bare feeling. Although light in texture, this cream is highly effective, containing 74% snail slime extract. Snail slime extract promotes the production of collagen, allowing it to plump existing wrinkles and prevent new ones from forming. Use this moisturizer to create a more youthful and radiant complexion today!
Directions: After cleansing and using toner, apply an appropriate amount all over and tap lightly to help absorption.

Benefits:
Lightweight
Boosts Collagen
Increases Elasticity
Moisturizes

Ingredients
Snail secretion filtrate, butylene glycol, cyclopentasiloxane, glycerin, Bis-peg-18 methyl ether, dimethyl silane, polysorbate2-, sodium hyaluronate, carbomer, glycosyl trehalose, hydrogenated starch hydolsyate, triethanolamine, dimethicone/vinyl dimethicone crosspolymer, dimethicone, hydroxyethylcellulose, caprylyl glyocol, ethylhexylglycerin, sodium polyacrylate, centella asiatica extract, portulaca oleracea extract, camellias sinensis leaf extract, nelumbo nucifera flower extract, betula platylphylla japonica juice, tropolone, copper tripeptide-1, allantoin, panthenol, olea europaea (olive) fruit oil, helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil, palmitoyl pentapeptide-4, adenosine, disodium edta"(1)

This product comes packaged in a super cute pink tube with a little snail on the front. It has a screw cap that allows you to stand the tube up and is soft and squeezy.
The Gel Cream is basically a gel consistency, and translucent in colour. It has very little scent, and spreads out easily across the skin. This is the perfect summer moisture level for my skin, but I would need something a little heavier during winter.
So what's the catch? It breaks me out really badly, which is a pretty big feat considering I'm taking acne medication! This is not uncommon for this product, a lot of other people also find this product causes them to break out too so I am not alone, but it's still frustrating. A lot of other people re purpose their cream as a mosquito bite remedy or for burns, but I don't actually have the need for that because I don't really burn myself often or get mosquito bites.

What I Love
- Cute packaging
- Great summer moisturiser

What I Don't Love
- Breaks my skin out badly
- I don't actually have any other use for it

Final Thoughts
Unfortunately this product is a giant fail for me since I just can't use it! It breaks out my skin really badly, and I don't have any other purpose for it, so it's not fit for it's purpose, sending it straight to the fail pile. I initially gave it to my sister to use as her skin is quite resilient, but it ended up breaking her skin out too, so she can't use it either! It's quite frustrating that it didn't work for my skin, but I know tons of others have had great success with this product, so just because it's a fail for my skin, doesn't mean it's going to be a fail for yours! Everybody's skin is different. ^ ^

I would definitely recommend the Mizon Multi Function Formula Snail Recovery Gel Cream to any Princesses looking for a lightweight moisturiser that is rich in snail-y goodness!

  1. Have you been able to pinpoint an ingredient (or more) to which your skin reacted so badly? This one didn't break me out, but like most products with 'cones in the top of their ingredient lists, it quickly gave me quite some CC's.
I hope your skin recovers very quickly; it's been looking great in your blog photos recently!

    1. I'm working on it, but this is one of the only products I've ever had such a bad reaction to! Though I did just try their Snail Ampoule and the same reaction happened >< I really hope it's not a reaction to snails in general!!
