Fail or Holy Grail Review: Tonymoly Tomatox Magic White Massage Pack

Hello Princesses!
Today I'm going to be talking about the Tonymoly Tomatox Magic White Massage Pack! I might be one of the only people in the world that immensely dislikes this massage pack and that is totally ok, because what doesn't work for my skin might be the Holy Grail for your skin!

"Tomatox Magic White Massage Pack is a multi functional massage pack with tomato extract that has a detox property to clear skin. Contains lemon extract that accelerates collagen synthesis and also whitens and tones skin.  Baicha extract helps calm irritated skin while offering a whitening effect. Houstonia extract is also known as a mysterious herb with 10 kinds of properties of anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-allergenic, whitening, which all contribute to clear radiant skin.

Benefits: Whitens, Tones, Anti-inflammatory, Antioxidant, Acne Care

How to Use:
After cleansing, apply on dry face and gently massage for about 1 to 2 min. After massaging, leave it on your face for 5 to 10 min. Rinse off with lukewarm water and pat with towel. Use 2 to 3 times per week or use everyday as needed."(1)

"Ingredients
Solanum Lycopersicum (Tomato) Fruit Water, Sorbitol, Titanium Dioxide, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Butylene Glycol, Alcohol, Niacinamide, PVP, Squalane, Polysorbate 60, Pearl Powder, Coral Powder, Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Centella Asiatica Extract, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Seed Extract , Solanum Lycopersicum (Tomato) Fruit Extract, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Fruit Extract , Actinidia Chinensis (Kiwi) Fruit Extract , Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Saururus Chinensis Extract, Panthenol, Methylparaben, Carbomer, Arginine, Aluminum Hydroxide , Fragrance, Zea Mays (Corn) Starch , Propylparaben, Microcrystalline Cellulose, Mannitol, Sucrose, Tocopheryl Acetate"(2)

I was given a bunch of sample packs (15 sample sachets!) with an online order so I decanted a bunch of them so I could review this properly! If I was to purchase the full sized product it does come in a super cute tomato shaped package which I think is super cute! 15 sample sachets turned out to be quite a lot of product though!
The magic massage cream is a thick white texture that is quite easy to spread out. When I use this on my face it does sting quite a bit, it's not a relaxing pack at all! The instructions tell you to massage it into your skin for 1-2 minutes, and then to leave it for 5-10 minutes. This does dry down to a soft finish, but it's not tight like a clay mask would be.
I had a lot of difficulty washing this pack off, like any other pack that leaves a white cast this pack is designed to somewhat stay on your skin to leave the brighter white finish, but I really don't like this at all. I'm happy to use products that whiten by brightening the skin, but I don't like products that leave a residue on your skin to make it look whiter.

This mask does contain Titanuim Dioxide as the second ingredient which will be the ingredient that leaves the skin looking white. It also contains Lemon fruit extract which makes me a little cautious because lemon extract can cause photosensitivity, making this mask better for night use. However due to the Titanium Dioxide, the white effect won't last until the morning if you use it at night which is a little useless.
What I Love
- It does have pretty cute packaging
- Easy to apply

What I Don't Love
- Stings my skin
- Lemon essence can cause photosensitivity
- Doesn't wash off properly which causes the white cast
- Doesn't have any added skincare benefits for my skin

Final Thoughts
This is a total fail for me since I won't use it in the morning since it contains Lemon fruit extract which can make skin photosensitive and quicker to burn, but there is no point using it at night for the whitening effect since the Titanium Dioxide will wash off in the morning face wash. I don't like the type of masks that leaves a residue on the face to make it appear brighter, because it's uncomfortable for my skin and I'm quite likely to rub it off my skin anyway during my 10-12 step skincare routine. This mask stings my skin which isn't fun either! I don't feel like I had any added skincare benefits from using this mask, no brightening of scars, no added moisture, no toning or acne care for me, so what is the point?

I know a lot of people love this product anyway, so I would recommend it for any Princesses looking for a wash off pack that leaves a white cast on the skin.

  4. Same here with this one. Decanted a bunch of samples, used it twice, and found it so annoying/useless that I threw out the rest without a second thought. It wasn't even worth to try and use it on my body. I am very surprised that it's still around (and, it seems to be everywhere, too) when a gazillion much better products have been released.
