Fail or Holy Grail Review: Dermal Cover Camouflage Makeup

Hello Princesses!

Today I'm going to be talking about Dermal Cover Camouflage Makeup! Dermal Cover is an New Zealand based company that specialises in Camouflage Makeup, and I decided to purchase one of their samples after being matched at a Beauty Expo!
"Cosmetic camouflage creams were first developed by plastic surgeons during World War II to cover the burns received by fighter pilots. Nowadays men, women and children can use cosmetic camouflage to conceal abnormalities. Cosmetic camouflage can improve the quality of life significantly. Improved self-esteem creates a sense of personal well-being.

Although camouflage will not restore your skin to an even texture, it will conceal discolouration and blend in with the surrounding unaffected skin to create a natural look.

Camouflage makeup is thicker and more opaque with more pigment than regular foundation makeup. It effectively covers healed incision lines from surgery, scars, bruises and discolouration on your face or body. Camouflage makeup products are usually creamy and come in a variety of shades to match the colour of the skin.

The Difference between Camouflage Products and decorative Cosmetics

- Camouflage is Waterproof. You can swim in Camouflage makeup safe in the knowledge that it won’t wash off. Gently pat or air dry the camouflaged area when it becomes wet as rubbing with a towel will remove the camouflage.
- Camouflage is long lasting. It can remain in place up to 6-12 hours on facial skin and up to 2 days on the trunk or limbs.
- Camouflage creams can be easily mixed to provide a good colour match.
- If necessary, decorative oil free cosmetics can be applied over the set camouflage area.
- Camouflage makeup contains ultra-violet sun-protecting properties with SPF15
- Oil free sun protection can also be applied under or over the camouflage
- Topical medication can be applied under camouflage makeup
- Camouflage makeup can be removed and immediately re-applied with no adverse effects."(1)

Dermal Cover Camouflage Cream is  a dermatologically tested makeup product for covering and concealing skin irregularities. It is waterproof when set with a finishing powder and has UV protection to SPF15.

Choose the shade that matches your natural skin colour from the colour palette below*. If you are unsure of the colour you need, you can purchase a small sample tester kit that includes all the colours so that you can first match with your skin tone. Make sure you are matching with the skin immediately around the area you wish to cover as skin tone can vary from one part of the body to another."(2)
Paradise Beach is quite a good colour match for me! It's slightly on the pinky side, but this is the closest match for my neck and face. I purchased one of the small tester pots which cost $30 for 3 grams of product (which is insanely expensive might I add) and it came with a small pot of translucent setting powder. According to my consultant, I must use this setting powder when using this cream product. In all honesty you can just use a regular translucent powder, there's nothing special about this powder (especially considering the price of $65 for  grams!).

I bought this product to conceal my birthmark. Don't get me wrong, I don't care at all about my birthmark, it's a little something that makes me me, and I'm not ashamed of it! There have been awkward times like when the hairdresser spent 15minutes trying to clean it off thinking it was dye, or when children ask me if I left food on my face, so it's nice to have an option to hide it if I want to.

My birthmark is classified as a Café-au-Lait birthmark, (coffee with milk) and is a quite light brown colour! This type of birthmark often grows abnormal amounts of hair and mine is no exception, I have a thorough hair removal regime to follow, because my natural hair is very dark, it makes my birthmark appear much darker (I can't fix my ear hair, it's just too hard).

This Dermal Cover Camouflage Makeup is super thick and really quite difficult to blend evenly. It tends to get quite thick and chunky which isn't overly natural, but it has amazing coverage and lightens my birthmark substantially with one layer. I realistically need three layers of this product to sufficiently camouflage my birthmark, but it's still not 100% covered
Three layers of this cream product looks extremely cakey, it's impossible to get the coverage even for me as my birthmark runs down the side of my jaw, my eyes don't quite go that far! Because there is so much product on my face, it's really easy to smudge this with my hands, my hair can also leave streaky marks in it.
From a distance you can't see the cakiness of this product which is great! But as soon as you get within talking distance you can see it. I would definitely use this product for an evening event where I want to have my hair up and don't want to be bothered by questions, but it's really no good for any hot weather, day time lighting or when I want to wear my hair down.

What I Love
- Covers 90% of my birthmark
- Close to my skintone (slightly pinky)

What I Don't Love
- Super pricey at $72
- Hard to blend and apply evenly
- Smudges throughout the day
- Looks really cakey and unnatural (in comparison to the rest of my face)
- The finishing powder is nothing special, not really waterproofing

Final Thoughts
My first bone to pick with Dermal Cover is the price of the sample! Why on earth does it cost $30 for 3grams of product and then $72 for 20grams? One gram should cost $3.60 making a 3gram sample size a mere $10.80 rather than $30. I just don't think this product is good enough for me to purchase full size because it doesn't quite cover my birthmark effectively, and it also still looks different in comparison to the rest of my face because it looks so cakey. It's not a terrible product and I'll definitely keep using this little sample pot when I go out for night time events, but I won't purchase this full size because it's just not worth the price at all.

I would recommend this product to any Princesses who want amazing coverage for light birthmarks or any acne scarring, but be prepared for high prices and quite cakey coverage.

Review: GEO Super Size Nudy Brown

(Sponsored)
Hello Princesses!

Today I'm going to be reviewing my newest set of lenses, the GEO Super Size Nudy Brown! These lenses were kindly provided for review by Lensflavors!

Label 1: Diameter 14.5mm | Base Curve 8.7mm
Label 2: Diameter 14.8mm | Base Curve 8.6mm
Our Price: $23.90
Water Content: 38%
Usage: 1 year disposal
Includes: One pair of lenses and one macaron lens case
I received these lenses in my current prescription (which has now increased - lame). They arrived in average time, just about three weeks which isn't super speedy, but they do offer free worldwide delivery!
I decided to review GEO lenses, not because I find them the most comfortable, but because they have a verification code to guarantee that the wee bits of plastic I stick in my eyes are actually genuinely and safely made.
These are safe! Thank goodness. Sticking things in my eyes makes me anxious.
I adore these lenses! They're a perfect enlargement for me (a little dolly, but not alien like) and the colour blends into my natural eye colour quite well! The right lens is quite comfortable, albeit slightly blurry. I'm blaming this on the fact that I had my prescription changed a couple of days ago, therefore these aren't as powerful as they need to be. The left lens however, is really blurry and scratchy.
The left lens is printed crooked. While this isn't actually damaging for your eyes, you can see it sitting badly on my iris in the above photo. You can see parts of the whites of my eye because the lens isn't sitting on the centre of my eye, you can also see that the coloured part of the lens is quite close to the pupil, which makes it a little hard to see.
It doesn't look like much of a big deal, but please make sure you inspect your lenses before you wear them for tiny rips or tears, uneven printing or flaws in the lens. You only get one pair of eyeballs, so treat them well!
What I Love
- Lovely enlargement (14.5mm)
- Genuine Products
- Ideal colour for my natural eyes
- Good, fair price
- Right lens is super comfy

What I Don't Love
- Faulty -0.75 lens
- Blurry in my dry eyes
- Slow shipping (though it is free!)
- Left lens is blurry and scratchy

Final Thoughts
Although I adore the colour and enlargement of these lenses, I really can't wear them because the left lens is just so blurry. I do need them in my updated prescription, but they are still much blurrier than my other old prescription lenses. The right lens is absolutely perfect, it's super comfortable and clear, so I'm really saddened that the left is not.

It's important to note that although these lenses are from Lensflavors, it isn't their fault that the lens is faulty, as the lenses obviously come packaged straight from GEO. It's just a good reminder to check your lenses for faults, and that bloggers don't just get the cream of the crop in terms of products, we aren't out there to trick you! Honesty is the best policy.

I would definitely recommend these lenses for any Princesses looking for an innocent dolly eyed look without looking like an alien. They look natural(ish) on medium brown coloured eyes, and I'm sure they would look lovely on lighter and darker coloured eyes too! ^.^

Thank you so much to Lensflavors for sending these lenses to me for review!

First Impression: Etude House Nymph Aura Volumer - Luminous Aura

Hello Princesses!

Today I'm going to be talking about the Etude House Nymph Aura Volumer in the fourth formula, Luminous Aura! I've already reviewed the other three formula's in my Fail Products, but I soon discovered that there was a new fourth shade, and was so pleased when I received some tester sachets with an order from Cosmetic Love! ^.^

 What Does It Do?
"Nymph Aura Volumer is a multi-functional cream that maximizes the radiance and dewy glow on skin. Completes your look with a flawless finish with plumped and moisturised skin. Create a celebrity glow by mixing it with any liquid foundation, base, or BB cream to give skin a moist radiant look. Contains Argan Oil and Avocado Oil for anti-oxidant and skin elasticity care.

Directions: Apply evenly on skin with 1:3 mix of BB cream of foundation. Use foundation brush or BB brush for perfect blending. When used for highlighting, apply on the nose, forehead, and cheekbones with only the volumer.

Benefits:
Radiates
Dewy Finish
Plumps
Moisturizes
Anti-Oxidant"(1)
I was really pleased to see that this Volumer was similar to the second formula which was my favourite! This Volumer has a gold and red shimmer, rather than the pink and purple shimmer like the second formula.
Again, just like the other three formulas, adding this Volumer to a BB Cream sheers out the coverage a fair bit but gives it a gorgeous glow.
This Volumer is much too sticky for me to use it as a highlighter, it makes my skin feel tacky and it's really quite unpleasant. I have quite long hair which is on my face a fair bit, so if I don't set this with a translucent powder my hair just sticks to it. If I do set it with a translucent powder it looses a lot of the lovely highlight it provides.
This Volumer sheers out my BB Cream SO much that I almost may as well not wear it. It does give me such a gorgeous glow, but I also feel like it made my skin oilier than it usually would be, so my glasses slid down my nose.

Would I Purchase This Product?
No. If I had gorgeously clear skin this is a product that I would consider purchasing! When mixed with a BB Cream or foundation it does give a really lovely glow and finish, but it's just too sticky to use as a highlighter for me and sheers out my foundations a little too much. I can get very similar results from using the Arllin CC Cream and I don't have to mix two products to get a good result, so I think I'll just stick to that one for now!

I would definitely recommend this Volumer to any Princesses that enjoy the Etude House Nymph Aura Volumer in the second formula, but are looking for a more golden highlight! ^.^

This is the old formula, and since I purchased this they have reformulated and incorporated different formula's for Oily or Dry skin! Store Review: Cosmetic Love

Hello Princesses!

Today I'm going to be talking about my shopping experience with Cosmetic Love! ^.^ My first order with Cosmetic Love was my first ever Korean Cosmetic order (aside from Yesstyle which doesn't really count) and I've been shopping with them ever since I started my blog! I collaborate with them all the time because they are amazingly generous, but when I did my Asian Cosmetics round up I realised that I hadn't actually done a proper Store Review on them!

Website Practicality
I have absolutely no problems with Cosmetic Love's website, it's aesthetically pleasing, and super easy to navigate. The search bar works really well, it's easy to log in and track your orders, and it's also easy to contact the staff for any questions or your parcel gets lost.
